Commercial-Scale Solar
Corktown Co-operative Housing NEM
Commercial and multi-residential solar installation support for a Hamilton community housing property, helping advance clean-energy adoption within a multi-residential setting.
Project Summary
Sunvibe supported the development and utility connection of a multi-residential solar project at 221 & 223 Charlton Ave E. in Hamilton, helping coordinate the technical and electrical requirements needed to integrate solar generation into a multi-unit property.
Project Overview
Multi-residential properties require a different level of planning than a typical residential rooftop system. Solar design must account for the building's existing electrical infrastructure, utility interconnection requirements, available roof and electrical space, and the needs of the property as a whole.
For this Hamilton project, SunVibe's role involved supporting the solar project through its engineering and utility-connection requirements, with a focus on creating a practical path toward solar generation for a multi-residential property.
The project documentation included a dedicated solar-system connection package, electrical single-line documentation, specifications, and parking-level power and system layout information.
The Challenge
Multi-residential solar projects can involve significantly more coordination than a single-family installation.
Key considerations included:
Integrating solar generation with an existing multi-residential electrical system.
Coordinating the solar system connection with the local utility.
Documenting the electrical configuration through engineering drawings and a single-line diagram.
Working around existing building infrastructure and electrical distribution.
Planning for a solar solution appropriate for a multi-unit property.
Maintaining a clear technical and permitting pathway from design through utility connection.
